Deputy Fire Chief  Brighton Area Fire Authority

The Brighton Area Fire Authority, a combination department, proudly serving the residents of Genoa Township, City of Brighton, and Brighton Township, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Fire Chief.

The Authority currently has 8 full-time employees, 74 paid-on-call personnel and an annual operating budget of approximately $2,800,000. This position serves as the Deputy Fire Chief for the Fire Department and is responsible for the assisting in the planning, organization, directing, managing and evaluating of all of the Authorities activities. The hiring process will be at the discretion of the Brighton Area Fire Authority Board. Salary and benefit package is negotiable based on qualifications.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in fire science, public administration, or a related field preferred,
  • Fifteen years experience, three years in a supervisory position in a combination department preferred,
  • Completion of the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council (or equivalent) Fire Fighter l & ll, Hazardous Material Operations, Medical First Responder Certification in the State of Michigan,
  • Fire Officer lll,
  • Graduate of Eastern Michigan University Fire Staff and Command, or National Fire Academy EFO (or equivalent) preferred.
