Fire Chief Posting, Saginaw

The Fire Chief reports directly to the City Manager. The Fire Chief is responsible for administration and supervision of a 50-member full-time department dedicated to the protection of life and property and the prevention and control of fire to a population of 51,230 located over 17.5 square miles. The Fire Department operates out of four fire stations; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Staff includes a Training Officer, a Fire Marshal and three Battalion Chiefs who direct three fire suppression shifts.

The department responded to 3,220 incidents during 2013 and has a current annual budget of $10.4M.  Fire suppression is the primary service; however, the department provides hazardous material resources, water rescue, ice rescue, fire investigation, confined space rescue, code enforcement and community education, including a school Fire Safety program. The department is also actively involved in homeland security and is one of 15 Regional Response Teams to respond to weapons of mass destruction incidents within the state. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Public Administration or Business highly preferred; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in Fire Service would be considered.(Master’s preferred)

Bangor Township Hiring a Fire Chief

With the announcement of Fire Chief Donahue, Banger Township is looking to hire a replacement Fire Chief.   The position notice indicates the City is looking for the minimum requirements of firefighter II, Fire Officer and graduate of the National Fire Academy EFO program or the applicant should have their Chief Fire Officer Designation.
