I’m curious, what was the total time line from application to awarding of the grants ?

Supervisor, the original guidance was posted on May 29, 2009 and information can be found here, http://www.firegrantsupport.com/afscg/ There should be more grants coming out, did your community submit?
The application was submitted on July 10- the last day for submittal. The grant award notification was officially on September 25. Now the real work begins- trying to meet all of the Federal requirements for additional information and reporting so that we can actually begin construction.
Congats, to those that have received grants. The problem with these grants is that they basically had to be “shovel ready” projects. The really economically depressed communities couldn’t possibly afford to develop “shovel ready” projects in hopes of getting grants.
I would like to send a thank you to all the departments that helped Highland Park Fire Department receive this grant. Highland park received this grant without this project being a shovel ready project. Without the support of everyone that was involved we never would have been able to put this together. Thanks again and I will post updates when they come available.
Cograts, to Highland Park FD. These guy’s need a new fire station more than anyone in Michigan that I have seen.
