Have Reductions in Staffing Lead to Increase in Injury for Firefighters?
Last week discussed the many things that our first officers taught us about this great job, and there was continued discussion through the week.
So this week lets talk about a topic that seems to be key right now. Many of our budgets have been sliced and diced due to decrease in incoming revenue in our communities. Now there have been additional cuts to the overall budget with the reduction of state shared revenue.
How will the decrease in revenue affect your department? Have communities with reductions seen an increase in response times, injury to firefighters or civilians? Have the other divisions beyond operations been changed to support operations? Has your department been able to weather the storm, and what has allowed you to do that?
