Public Safety Officer Samborski from the Oak Park Public Safety Department was laid to rest today.  Officer Samborski was killed in the line of duty while performing his duties as a police officer.  Samborski was a public safety officer for Oak Park for four years.

“Officer Samborski made the ultimate sacrifice,” Oak Park Public Safety Director John McNeilance said. “We always will honor his memory and his service to the Oak Park community

Over 1,000 officers, fire fighters, and coutless civilans honored the slain officer today in Brighton.  As a public safety officer Samborksi was responsible as a fire fighter and police officer to his community.  Sunday while going above his duties and taking a minor (Jonathan Belton to Rue Versailles) home, he was killed after what appears to be an altercation.

It is our hope that the prosecutor for Oakland County will make sure the the murder is tried as an adult.  Our thoughts and prays go out to the family and Oak Park department as they mourn this terrible loss.

Samborski leaves behind a wife and one year old daughter.  A memorial fund has been established for Samborski’s family. Donations may be sent to the Mason Samborski Memorial Fund c/o 13600 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI 48237.
